Little bit of sewing

I have started three new sewing items in the last two weeks and also had a trip to the quilt show at Darling Harbour.
I love a good quilt show and this one defiantly live up to expectations for me. I had a ball and just wish I didn't have to hear that "we will be closing in five minutes" over the loud speaker LOL.
I got a few supplies and looked at a few things that I have wanted to try so this year I am going to have a go at a few things outside my comfort zone.

Onto another topic now- Xmas, yes I know it is only just July but by xmas time I will have 12 nieces and nephews and that is a lot of presents to give!
I need to make a start so I have been working on a doll pattern and have run off my first one. I was going to call her my Ebony doll cause she was going to have Orange hair just like my neice, but I couldn't find the right colour felt for this doll so this one ended up with black hair. Will just call her Ebony anyway!
So I have finished my first attempt and I am happy to say that there isn't much I have to change yipee. I do have to add a face though but I have the eyes etc all planned I just need to get brave and do it LOL
here she is in all her glory, I based her on a doll I saw on someones blog (I can't remember which one sorry) and I love the fact that she does not need to be dressed. For a little one that is perfect.

Now one of my nieces turns one in August and I was planning on giving her a doll for xmas but since I have found out her parents are giving her a pram, shhh don't tell, for her birthday I thought an Ebony doll would be perfect, mind you she can name it anything she wants, doll doll is fine LOL. these are the fabrics I am going to work with

Should look rather cute I hope.

I also have a quilt started for my mother in laws 60th birthday, now her birthday isn't till Jan but it takes awhile to quilt these things so I am being prepared. I already cut 6 triangles 1/4 inche too small bugger.

I also wanted to make one of these groovy things for hubbys and my keys, from my sisters blog.

Well better get back to sewing or sleeping or something!

Wet Sunday

Well the weather here this weekend has not been nice at all. No bike riding here.
The boys and I are all still getting over this nasty cold and there is a lot of coughing in this house.

I decided that it was time I got back to the sewing machine, so I set the boys up with some fabric bags that they started drawing on a year ago, before we moved, and then dragged out my fabric and pattern.

This is what the boys came up with

The start of Jacks picture on one side of the bag.

Another Bag- Lukes drawing and we still need to add a few buttons on this picture. The center of the flowers will have buttons as well as the chick in the nest.

The beginnings of Jacks second drawing, he is going into a lot of detail so not sure how long it will take him to finish.
And as for me I bought a pattern last week and finally started a block today.
I have had this fabric for ages now and finally decided to cut it.
the pattern I used was Sand castles by Rebecca Johnson pattern found here
This was rather easy to follow. The hard part was trying to decide which fabrics to put where.
And I had a little trouble with the turrets being the wrong size opps.
Anyway I did get one block finished and I am not sure how many other blocks I will make but I am sure if I make this into a pillow the boys will use it in the toy room, mmm maybe a throw for the toy room would be good too.

Anyway will leave it there as hubby needs the computer to plan the new network at work. Fun stuff!

To all those mums out there Happy mothers day.

Hope you all get spoilt rotten for the whole day.

My mum- She was a nurse before she had 6 children, She lost one at 27 weeks. But now she has 5 children 5 inlaws and 10 grandchildren and she is the best mother, grandmother that we could ever ask for. She is the mum that will always be there and will not judge you or anyone, she will just get in and do the dirty jobs and loves each and everyone of us for who we are and the way we are. She is truly amazing and the patients she must have. She has three daughters and each of us tell her how things are done in our houses and she will not complain she will do them the way we want. She folds the towels how I fold the towels she makes sure my sisters kitchen benches are clean the way she likes it and she does not judge us for our weakness. She truly is a great reason to celebrate mothers day.

My mums mum is the only grandparent we have left and she is turning 91 this year. She is special in her own way. She is an amazing strong woman and has lived through a lot. She was the only girl in a family of 7 children. She had 3 older and 3 younger brothers and her mother was a sick woman and died before she was 20. She then had to take on the roll of the mother and for these reasons she only got along with 2 of her brothers. Respect for women in the 30s and 40s was in very short supply and my nan never got any appreciation for what she did for her family.

My grandma- well where do I start. My grandma was an amazing woman. she is special and always will be and the hardest thing I have ever had to see was my grandmother get old and frail and then leave us. She was my fathers mother and there is a special bond between a boy and his mother (thank goodness cause I only have 2 boys LOL) I saw my father breakdown for the very first time ever at his mothers funeral, and I am so glad to have been there for him.
My grandfather called Grandma his little trouble. She was anything but and was his rock and his love.

I am very lucky to have had some very special mums in my life if they haven't all been my mum. I am lucky to have had these mums behind the people that I love more than anything in the world and this day is for all of them and for you as well.

Getting started again

I keep opening my blog with the intention on posting something but always find something to distract me.

But today I am determined to get it up and start posting again. I am a bit burnt out lately and I have to many things in my head that I just never seem to get started on anything. Now is the time to clear my head and start again on one project at a time. Mind you I have two new nieces or nephews on the way, both around the same time, October, and also my 6 month old niece that I have not made a little quilt for.

Last year I started on a quilt for one of my nieces whose mother loves monkeys. I never got in here with finished pics so thought I should show them off now.

I added the bananas to the boarder and think they look rather cute.
Really happy with how this quilt came together and now that number two is on the way I want to make another one very similar with a monkey on it. Just not sure what sex the next bub will be so I am going to wait and see.

OK will leave it there tonight have to get the boys lunches sorted for tomorrow and get them ready for bed

I am so slack at this whole blog thing. I keep wondering if I keep going with it but it is easy for me to come here and look up the things I like to keep track of as well. So I will try and keep it a little more up to date.

We have moved now and I have a huge house and sewing/office room so now I just need to get a little more unpacking done and I can get back into action.

Will leave it there as I have to much to do, sewing for my three week old neice is now on the list as well.

Quiet Saturday arvo

Well it has been a nice quite day here today.

We picked up a new buffet for the kitchen and then the kids wanted to do some paintings.

Luke was a powerhouse having an absolute ball and trying to paint as many pictures as he could. Jack finished two pictures. One was a copy from a book that we loved the illustrations in and the other was the hungry caterpillar.

He did such a great job and of course I had to have a little paint as well.

I have so much to do and I should have taken pics of Jacks new tshirt but I forgot. Will get pics tomorrow.

anyway here a pic of our day and the kitchen table.

Will be back with more monkey quilt pics as well, all I have to do is sew on the binding and it is ready to drop off next weekend.

Well I decided that it was time I had some new pjs and since Anthony has been away or working late I started working on them this week. I have shocked myself by actually finishing them LOL

And I love them infact the tshirt I made I am going to have to do a few more to wear during the day. I am also going to use the butterfly applique idea on a skirt as well just have to make a start on that.

I generally have a few things on the go at once in this place.

The house is a mess and I must do some kind of house work today but over the weekend I finished the monkey quilt which I started last week. My new niece was born just before xmas last year and I had not made her any thing until I found this gorgeous pattern for a quilt on this blog http://patchworkpottery.blogspot.com/2009/04/books-bananas.html (sorry blogger is playing up and I can't add the hyperlink)

So I started last week while Luke was recovering from his op and finished the top yesterday and now have to get some backing and something for the binding. I am thinking brown with white spots for the binding.

I also got Lukes pjs finished for his trip the the hospital on Tuesday last week. He has to get his ear drum repaired and get the packing out from last Aprils cholesteatoma removal. This kid is such a trouper.

He loves these pj's and although he doesn't look that happy in the pic he had surgery the day before so he is still a little washed out. I actually used a t-shirt pattern and altered it for the top and then added velcro so he didn't have to worry about ties and I didn't have to worry about snaps and reinforcement. He loves them and that is all that matters. Now Jack has put his order it LOL. I can't keep up with these growing boys. Jack put on last years track pants that I made him and he has grown at least 2 inches. So that means new school tracky pants as well. better get sorted as Autumn is creeping up quickly.

Also finished the top of my quilt for our bed and I love love love it.

well I have been a bad bad blogger.

opps what is going on it is already 2010 how has that happened.

we have moved since my last post, Luke has fractures his foot and Xmas has been and gone, and I have posted nothing oooooopps.

I really need to sit down and do a catch up but me being me it is nearly 11pm at night and I am buggered. I did how ever go to my Friends house tonight and do a few crayon drawings. She has discovered Spoonflower where you can download you fabric desings and get them printed so I was trying to come up with a few fun boys designs.

Anyway I will leave it at that and try and add some pics tomorrow of what I have been up to and what I made for xmas.

About Time !!!!!!!

OK so I thought it was about time I posted on my blog.

Life has been a little crazy to say the least.

Our landlord is selling so we have decided that after nearly 3 years we would get out and find a new house to rent. The time isn't right for us to have a $700,000 Mortgage. I found a nice house in Westleigh with four bedrooms, so hopefully enough room for us and my hobbies LOL that is the most important part isn't it? to have plenty of room to sew and create. I am so depressed about the move because it means I have to move away from this fantastic neighbourhood. I don't think it will sink in until we move that I can't walk next door to borrow some cloves or to get a sewing opinion. Think this is definately the hardest part. the easy part is leaving this house and the mould behind. I am hoping that we will all be a lot healthier in the new place.

I also thought it was time I posted a pic of my flamingo pants on my cute little neighbour. Her mum made the top from the matching fabric on the ruffles and it looks sooooo cute together

Someone asked about the flamingo fabric and I have just remembered to get back here with the details LOL
It is a Michael Miller fabric and I picked it up from the Craft depot
about a month ago. I actually managed to get 2 meters on sale so this was marked down to $7.95 a meter, what a bargain. So I still have 2 meters of it since I bought two lots LOL. Now to decided what to make mmmmmmm

with a spare five minutes. Make a dog jumper of course.

We have had Sandy for nearly a month and Jack has been telling me that she needs a jumper cause she is freezing outside. So after my neighbour said she had a pattern I grabbed it this morning and while Luke was watching Tv I whipped up a jumper for Sandy.
And what girl doesn't like Burgundy LOL

And no she wasn't banished to the corner I think this Dog has a fear of cameras PMSL she will have to get over that.

Had Jacks school concert yesterday so went thru all the pics to see if any worked. Not easy to take pics when you are near the back.
Have a few sewing projects that I want to complete and since Luke has Molly here for a play I might just might get something done. We will see though.
I have realised that I haven't posted pics of Luke's tshirt.

I made it from the ottobre mag that I borrow from my lovely neighbour and Luke loves it. I haven't taken pics of it finished yet but here is the spider in his web.

OK so it is that time of the year again that I have a lot of birthdays coming up and I need to get some presents made.
The first birthday is the little girl from next door and she is turning 2. Then I have 4 birthdays to sew for in June and July and that doesn't count my mother or brothers birthdays. I don't give presents to family unless it is a big birthday.
I am hoping however to make a little something for mum if I can get it all sorted.

So at the moment I have this cut out on my sewing mat

these are going to make the coolest pants in the street for miss 2.
Also I have been working on a quilt for me. I got the material obsession book sometime and fell in love with the quilt "fanciful flowers" so here it is in the making

this pic was taken on a double bed and I have made it for our queen bed so you can't see it all but you get the idea.
I am so proud of myself for this rather big project. I still have to sew all the blocks together and then add the borders. I am loving making this quilt and it has defiantly challenged me.

OK thats it for now I promise I will get pics of Lukes I spy quilt and blog them at some stage.

I can't believe I haven't posted in nearly a month. oppps
A fair bit has been happening I have been sewing alot and had sick kids and had an anniversary all in this time LOL

Luke had his tonsils and adenoids out and grommets put in both ears on Thursday and after a pretty miserable day yesterday he woke up bright as a button this morning. Now I just have to wait for the day 5 ear pain, oh the joys.
We maybe heading back to surgery for his ear again soon. It looks like he may have a Cholesteatoma and that needs to be removed and is major surgery. mmm not looking forward to that although we really need to sort out this hearing issue before it gets worse.

So that is what is going on with Luke.
Jack has been going great with a great start to the school year and grade 2. He is still loving school so that is great.

In other news Anthony and I celebrated 10 years of marriage. Can't believe it really but then again I can't remember life without him LOL

and I have to add this picture of the table Jack and Luke set for Anthony and I for tea of Friday night

they were so sweet and I wasn't allowed to look but since Anthony didn't get home till 7.30pm grrr I had to enter the room and feed Luke and Jack tea. Was a nice quiet night though but after Luke getting his tonsils out the day before I was buggered to say the least.

Well I wasn't sure if I would be organised enough but alas I was. Ebony's birthday gift has been made and sent, along with a simple card. All in time for her 3rd birthday on Wednesday.

I borrowed this pattern from my neighbour, as most of the girls patterns come from her LOL, and whipped it up. Rather easy to make it was Simplicity 5222.
I am so happy with how it turned out.

I hope you all had a great xmas whatever you did and wherever you are.

Ours was great a very quite, well compared to all the family getting together, lovely xmas. It was just the four of us and the boys had a ball. We got up at 7am and opened Santa presents then had our usual pancakes for breaky, got the pudding on and had a shower then opened a few more presents. After Lunch we opened the rest and the boys finally got to their speed racer slot cars.
the day was great to say the least.

OK here is the first messenger bag I made. It was made for jody
as part of the EB scrappers secret santa.

these bags are actually very fun to make and now I have started them I need to make more LOL three done already but will need to stop till after xmas now and then I will make myself one.

OK I have two of the five parcel posted and on their way for some special nieces and nephews for xmas. Lets hope the arrive cause I don't usually get acknowledged by one family that gets presents.

I often wonder why I make things and never receive a yes it arrived or dare I say a thank you. But I suppose I love it when my kids get their presents and are just so excited I love to know that my niece and nephew are the same even if I never receive a thanks for them. Anyway that is another topic altogether.

I made X my 5 year old nephew a play mat for his cars or lego or thomas that can just be pulled together to store them in. We have one for lego and it is great, although Jacks lego collection doesn't fit on it anymore.

Hope he likes it and I am sure his mum will so she doesn't have to keep picking up after him LOL

oh and I also needed to put in the tut that I used for the sock monkey I found it here and loved it it is so easy. I also had a looksy on youtube for different types as well.

Finished the messenger tote for Jack teacher and I love it, and so did she. So thrilled with how it turned out. I used the Mischievous Gnome messenger bag pattern and I love it so easy and the zip was fantastic and easy.

I have done Aidan and Georgia's presents done.

Mike and Simon the sock monkeys - all ready for big adventures out there in the big wide world.

Although they will be seperate as of this week as Mike is going off to Live at Benjamins house, since it is his bday present and Simon is off to Orlans house for xmas.

Loved making these little monkeys and I already have two more orders from my boys LOL

well I am trying to finish off all these little projects for all the niece's and nephews. I am getting there slowly.

I have finished James elephant

and also on the way to being finished with the dolls quilts.
Have completed the sock monkeys, one for Benjamin's bday and one for Orlan for xmas.
need to get some more little tshirts and shorts done and finish off some bibs and put eyelets around the play mat for X.

So I am getting there, and even though it takes a fair bit of time I am loving making
all the projects for them.

We have got the xmas tree set up and the boys love it. Just need to sort out a few outdoor lights but we have all had gastro end of last week and over the weekend. I am pretending that I am not and have not been queasy cause i don't have time, but geez I feel crap LOL

While I was looking after a friends child yesterday I whipped up this gorgeous Tshirt that I am so in love with. Will be posted down to my littlest nephew soon.

it is only a little bit bigger than the last one I made him so he will get a bigger one for xmas with a pair of shorts and his new little edward the elephant.

and since Jack has just lost his 7th tooth I thought it was time to make a tooth pillow LOL

Well I am in full force on the xmas sewing front. Everything is well underway I just need a good patterns for little boys shorts in sizes 6 months and 1, so have to hunt around all my patterns and see what I can come up with.

Also got my EB scrap secret Santa underway, but need to get it finished and sent off.

My sister is going to get her little surprise in the mail tomorrow I hope. She heads to Melb to go into hosi on Wed and will be in for about a week. Freaking me out a bit but she is one of the strongest most stubborn person I know so I know she will be fine as will her baby and hubby. I hope she loves the little something I whipped up for her.
I hate being interstate when these things happen but she knows how much I wish I was there and that will have to do.

Getting a bit emotional now so off to another topic LOL

OK had a friends little boy here today so have been upstairs sewing but will need to take a pics of the gorgeous t I made for James. It is sooooo cute.

Well we are heading to Vic for mum and dads 40th wedding anniversary and since we are driving, groan, I am trying to get some things sorted to hand sew in the car. So with my mission of all homemade presents for the nieces and nephews well underway. I decided that it would be nice to get the dolls quilt to a point that I could hand quilt. So I have one ready to go and the other two 80% done.

I have finished the two bibs and skirt for Aiden and Georgia but alas I haven't done pics yet.

Also decided that I would like to make myself a new top to wear to mum and dads. So in all my wisdom I decided to use fabric that I have never sewn with before. It worked ok, not perfect but OK. Still not sure if I will wear it or not but it depends on the weather.

doesn't look great no the dummy but that is cause it hasn't got boobs were as I have LOL

Did pucker a bit at the front but it is still OK

So just in case it is to cold I made a fabric flower to wear with one of my dresses. Got a few ideas from Heather Baileys flowers but didn't use a pattern just went for it. I am very happy with the results.

OK well back to these quilts and the mess in the kitchen, will be back with more pics later.

Well we are on the last week of school holis here in NSW and they have just flown by. It will be a bit sad when I have to actually get out of bed before 7.30am next week LOL but at least with Luke awake coughing so much I have been able to sleep in a couple of mornings.
Jack is so good, most mornings he will get Luke his breaky and they will just play together. Think I might have to start hiring him out LOL

Have made a start on xmas sewing and made a few items for presents lately.
Finished of the other 2 tshirts for the new bubs next door
the other one I finished was one Alice when I took the pic and since I haven't ask permission to post pics of her kids I wont so you will have to wait until I get another picture.

Also made a little tshirt for one of our other neighbours who turned 3.

Also finished Lukes hippo shorts. I picked up this fabric at the op shop and I am in love with these shorts and he has had so many comments about them

Also finished Amys bday present even though her birthday was at the end of August opps

OK well I will be back with a few more things I have stated for xmas but I need to see what the kids are up to and get them to make a start on cleaning, yeah right

Some little sewing

A week and a half ago my neighbour had her fourth child, another little girl. So to help her out a little and as my gift for baby Alice I am making some little tshirts. They are so little and cute.
They are an Ottobre pattern but altered to be a tshirt instead of romper. Even after I broke my overlocker sewing the first one, No idea how I did that. They look so cute and little.
Have two more little ones to sew and the a couple the next size up to make.

Better get back to the sewing and cutting out.

I picked up some of the most gorgeous japanese fabric the other day at spotlight, even though I was trying so hard not to buy anymore LOL.

So since Luke has two parties on the weekend, both girls, I decided that since Anthony was in Melbourne I would sew.
There is no better present than these cute little pencil rolls. Might even do a couple of no sew tutus as well.

Tonsils are gone

Well yesterday Jack had his tonsils removed. So after a very long exhusting day we are taking it easy for the next few days. He even managed to have a nap for 2 ours today which will do wonders to help him recovered.
His tonsils were very infected so he is on some pretty stop antibiotics for a few days and once he recovers fully we shouls have a new child LOL.

In other news I got an email today from scrapbook creations asking for a LO I did to be published. This is certainly an ego booster since I haven't scrapped since the retreat, actually I have a few things to finish on those LOs oppps.

Well there have been plenty of things happening in our little world. First of all Jack has been sick again with almost all of last week off school. But the good news is he will be getting his tonsils out next Tuesday so that is all good, he is really being good about it all as well. He did ask me what happens if he isn't asleep or if he feels something but we have had a chat and it is all cool. It is amazing how perceptive they are.

I have been to see my gorgeous little nephew and what would my blog be without a pic of him LOL

isn't he just perfect awwwww

And also it is my nieces 3rd birthday today, so we have had crazy kids talking on web cam this arvo. It really is lucky we are interstate cause when these three get together it is a made house LOL

OK so I have been busy trying to get a few things done lately
First of was my new nephews quilt and it is now complete. Was not expecting him early so that threw a spanner in the works PMSL

I had a little play with free motion quilting I am am rather happy with the results. Not much in the quilt but I wasn't sure how well it would turn out or how easy it would be since I had only practised on smaller pieces. I love the binding fabric with this it is just fantastic how well it suits the quilt.

So now all I have to do is post it. I am in the process of booking my flights and car hire to get to Bendigo for a few days to see my little Nephew. It is getting exciting and I can't wait to meet him.

I am still working on my Nans quilt and have decided to free motion quilt that one as well, so it may take a little longer. Also have Amy Kate's bday presents to do as well, arghhhh it all comes at once.
But with my new machine I should be able to whip them all up PMSL
here she is.

It is the singer Quantum 9940 cause I just couldn't afford a new Pfaff. But this machine is a beauty I love it it is so nice to sew with. Now I can't wait for mum to come visit and have a play.
now the other thing I have been working on was a mini album for a very close friends bday. But since they are not my kids I am going to have to do a little blurring of faces before I post it on the web.

OMG my sister went into early labour tonight and since bubs was breach she had a c section at about 9pm and has just had her little boy.

After dragging out my softies book I decided that Mabel was my best choice for a 1 yo and a 2 1/2yo so here they are in all their cuteness.

Sewing pants

Oh before I begin my little nephew has a name. Took his parents 3 days to name him LOL he is Orlan Brody H or as we have already nicknamed him Obi LOL Can't wait to give him a little hug.

On the sewing front I have been making some new pants for Luke. I find it hard to get pants that fit him nicely. so since it is fairly easy to do I whipped him up a couple of pairs. One pair of brown cords and a pair of denim pants, and I spruced them both up a bit.

I have also been making Xaviers bday present. he is getting another pair of pants and a top again this year. Have only made the pants at this stage but they came up rather nice.

Also finally got a picture of Jacks quilt, taken out on the line after I washed it. And one of Orlans quilt as well, now I just have to finish his singlets and I can pack his things up and send them off.

Also made Ebony a new softie to send in the parcel as well. Will have to download the pics for that though.

Both boys are upstairs sick at the moment so I need to get back up there and clean. The house has been neglected for a few days since I have been sewing LOL priorities.

Well I use to watch my mother quilt and patchwork and decided that I really wasn't patient enough to work on something for so long, But I have given in and I think I am a quilting addict PMSL
Mind you my mother takes ages to finish a quilt because she is the best procrastinator in the world hehe love ya mum.

I have just finished putting my blocks together for my disappearing 9 patch and it was so much fun.
So now I have all the top done so I have to sandwich and baste and then start the machine quilting.
After making Jacks quilt and the new niece/nephews floor rug I decided that my nan was next LOL It is her bday near the end of August but I think once it is done I will send it off. she is 88 this year and thought a lap quilt for her in the nursing home would be great.

So here it is. I just LOVE these colours together

Now to get to the basting etc etc

Not much else happening I really need to get back into the scrapping stuff as I have pics sitting there from Clair that I am dying to do.

Finished baby quilt

Well it is such a long time that I blogged so I thought this needed its own mention.

I finish the baby quilt. After lots of thinking about the colour and asking here in blog land I have finished it. And i have to say I am very very happy with it.
I started quilting it by just using pins but it wasn't looking so great so decided to unpick it all and spray baste it down. Did that and it is perfect. The binding on the other hand is a bit dodgy but oh well that is the smallest part so it is OK PMSL. Anyway here is a pic.

So there you go all done in time for the new bundle which by the way is expected on the 19th/20th all going well. My SIL is sure to do a fine job as she did last time and I can't wait to meet my new little niece or nephew.

Now lets see. I have so much stuff on the go at the moment that I thought it would be great to come in and blog it. Don't normally blog very often so maybe this will get me gong a bit more. Well lets hope.

first up I actually started something for me. Yep I am actually sewing me something first time in about 12 years I think. I am pretty happy with it since I have never been game to sew anything like this fabric I chose.
It is from the latest Women's Ottobre Mag which I borrowed from my neighbour. Thanks F.
it is the little knit top and I love it it is actually quite easy although I am not sure how I will go on the buttonholes. Although my new machine has one step buttonholes so with a few practises it should work ok LOL

sorry about all the pins everywhere LOL

it actually pulled a bit out of shape at the bottom but oh well doesn't need to be perfect LOL
It looks better on the dressmakers dummy than me to PMSL

Buttons aren't done yet still have to have a few practises. I used fold over elastic which actually work out quite nicely. Much better than I think the binding would have.

Now to go and finish it LOL

Also have a pair of pants cut out for Luke in the most gorgeous colour velvety fabric, so I also have to sew them

OK so I have a few other project in mind as well but I think I need to get off the computer and get back to sewing

well it is time to celebrate and I want to wish all the mothers and mothers to be a fantastic mothers day.
Hope you all get spoilt rotten.

In other news we had Jacks party yesterday at the park. It was the most glorious day and we couldn't have had better weather if we ordered it.
we had about 15 6 and 7 year olds there with a pirate theme which they loved and the cake was a hit even though it didn't like the heat much LOL

I also had a great thrift find the other day.
I happened to go to my local op shop and found these gorgeous vintage prints. So lucky I have two babies due soon in my family. I can't wait to turn them into something nice.

And lastly my favorite. I love this vintage fabric it is Divine and quite a lot of it to about 4 meters. and all for the bargain price of $5

Well even though Anthony is at work on mothers day I am going to try and get some thing sewn and do some more hand sewing on Jacks quilt. Sewing this binding down is taking forever cause my arm keeps aching.

Can't wait to sew on my Machine I got from Ebay for a mere $41. Its Brother mystar 3 and lovely to sew with now just to actually make something and not just sew on a bit of fabric LOL

wow I am doing two posts in one day LOL can't believe it

Anyway thought I would pop back with a few of Jacks cake tonight. He requested pizza for tea so we had home made pizzas, with the dough in the breadmaker yummy

Oh and on quilting news my lovely old Elna packed it in yesterday, tell me I was happy about that NOT. Was finishing the last two borders and it wont go properly now grrrrrr. Mind you it is probably a good thing cause I need to sort out a few things around the house and get the wadding on Mon or Tuesday etc etc. So I suppose it ain't all bad.

Anyway not much else is happening, we had the most glorios day here in Sydney. The sun came out for Jacks bday and put a smile on everyones faces.

To be honest I couldn't be prouder of my little man. He is Sensitive and honest and brave and I am just soooo Lucky to have a boy like this.

OK well it has been a very productive arfternoon.
After I made sure the kitchen was clean I sat down and started Jacks Dinosaur quilt, I want to get it all sewn together before his birthday on Sat but we will wait and see.

I cheated and bought a precut kit off ebay. so all I had to do was sew the strips and then cut and sew some more LOL. so here are the beginnings of Jacks quilt
Wish me luck for the rest of it.

so now I have four blocks sewn together and now I need to add another one and then do the other two rows.
So better get back to it

Very long time

OK so it has been over a month since I posted but there has not been a lot of scrapping or sewing going on.

We went away for a week over easter and I did make some Pj's and tshirts and shorts for the boys but haven't got back into the groove yet.

First up Jack had his cross country the last day of term and he did sooo well. the kids can run fast over short distances but when it comes to long distance he needs to train I think. He ran so fast ans then got pooped. Anyway heres a pic of Jack running

Yep thats right I found my sewing mojo. Maybe it is because I cleaned up and could actually see what was around me PMSL.
Have been busy making a little friend a pair of PJ's for his 2nd bday. Will come back with a pic cause I am going to have to work out the elastic size mmmmm.

On other news I can announce that my youngest sister and the last to be married is 12 weeks pregnant. I am so so so so happy for her when I spoke to her today after her scan I had tears in my eyes and I can totally understand her feelings. She suffered a miscarriage last year so this is the best news I have heard in a very very long time and I hope she has the easiest pregnancy ever. I love you my little sister, oh as I do you Jen hehe

well it is a new year and a really bad start to blogging. Have been so busy lately and trying to get this place in some kind of order mmm well that isn't really happening.
We had a great xmas and new year and camping in 40 plus degree heat. Are we crazy LOL. Then we come back to Sydney and the rain and the humidity, isn't it only suppose to rain in winter holis not summer holidays. I think the kids are going nuts cause it is soooo wet here.

Well I will just show a few pics and come back to write more as I need to work out tea and clean up the kitchen arghhhhh

First of all Anthony bought us a new camera for xmas the Canon 400D and I love it. it is going to take forever to work out though but i am having fun with it.

Xmas sewing

Well this year I decided that all gifts that we give to the niece's and nephews will be homemade, mmm well was that a great idea? Lets just say it is keeping me busy and since I have been without a car for 3 weeks I have actually got quite a bit made and since they are all little I can show them off here LOL.

First of all I decided that Jenny's little baby needed a new romper for xmas so I just made a bought one fancy for xmas. Oh and don't worry I am working on another one with red so they are both unisex but Jenny has a choice. I think they have come up fantastic, even if I do say so myself

Also nearly finished X tshirt to go with his parcel of goodies, now
to finish the cape. These kids are going to have a ball over xmas.
Jack has drawn a pic of a trex and I have put that on X top and it looks fantastic I am so happy with how it came out.

I also have been working on some no sew tutus that I got a tutorial from the net,so easy and I have now made 4 LOL 3 for the neices
and one for one of Jacks friends at school.

So I have a few other things on my to do list and one of the first things I have to do is my scrap SS and get that in the post arghhh oh and a present for Jens baby which is due on the 10th. MMMM time is running out fast

It is such a busy time of the year at the moment and everything that can go wrong is for some reason.
Buggered my ankle again! and had a truck hit me from behind and push me into a car in front, so therefore have not had a car for over two weeks now. So you would think that the house would be clean and I would have all the sewing up to date. LOL not even close.

Since last time I posted I have a new nephew so have made him a little something, now just to get to the Post office and post it. Had a ball making this gorgeous little softie from http://funkyfriendsfactory.com/home.aspx

OK been sewing today since we cleaned yesterday.

thought I would come in with a pic of Amy's top, all i need to do is the hem and sleeves but will wait until I try it on her next week first. It is from the Ottobre mags that my neighbour receives and I have been borrowing, Thanks Fiona, smile.

I used some little stamps from sassafras lass that are designed for scrap booking but they look just so cute on this top and i am sure the others will get well used as well. Also have the Oliver and friends set which is cute little owls, can't wait to use that set.

well where do i start. mmmmmmm
well Anthony took two days off sick at the start of last week and drove me nuts LOL oh geez how can someone be so sick and still be alive, yes a typical man he was on his death bed grrrrrr

Have been sewing a lot lately have started and got quite a lot done on Amy's, Ebony's and Georgia's xmas presents and they are, even if I do say so, looking very cute indeed.

I managed to nearly finish Anthony's muscle top and complete a few head bands which are very easy to make but do need a few adjustments to the pattern.

mmm what else oh I have finish the LO for the beautiful comp on EB. About time to, I was just so off scrapping with Luke sick and doing my ankle but alas I sat down over the weekend and finished it. Thanks to Jenny, Sue, Tracey and of course Michelle for your help THANK YOU THANK YOU.

Have finished two of the four tops to got with the pants and he is a little sneaky peak LOL

Have also been doing a few things for the boys as well and adding a bit of stamping etc to their tops. here is the front of one of Jacks new tops. You only get the front cause I haven't sewn it together hehe

Sewing Sewing and more Sewing

OK well I have been sewing and cutting out lately. I cut out 2 tshirts for Luke and 2 tshirts for Jack now all I have to do is stencil Jacks tops with Dinosaurs and sew them. But before I do that I need to finish some twins outfits. Have done the pants apart from the hems and they look sooooo cute. I really need to get the tops done and post them off.

Also working on some xmas presents for all the nieces have decided to do some clips and headbands to go with their little outfits.

Well better get back to the sewing so I can post some more pics, smile.

Almost a month GONE

Oh dear I can't believe that it has been nearly a month since I blogged last. Mmmmm that sounds nice LOL.
Well here I am and we have had a very interesting household of late.
Luke got gastro which I got and Jack got, but of course I got it worse than Jack who threw up once and that was it, but our poor little lukey was sick for 2 1/2 weeks and that included throwing up in the car twice. mmm yep real nice. And then he comes down with a chest infection so he is now on antibiotics.

Sewing sewing sewing but can't seem to get anything finished at the moment but I can say that my nieces are going to be the cutest looking little girls around come xmas time. I have so many little things planned that it is good that I am starting now hehehe I love sewing pink things LOL. O have cut out a few tops and t-shirts for the boys and still have to sew the little tops for Angs twins. I also made some undies for Jack from the ottobre mag from my neighbour and Jack loved them now I just have to sort out the elastic and make him some more.

Went to Michelle for a scrap day yesterday and had a ball met up with Deb, Dizzy, Ryn and Michelle, of course. But I finally got to met Dee and she is a blast I had a ball and can't wait to go to the next one. Dee got 6 LO's done I didn't even finish one.
I worked on the LO for the comp I won on EB where I have to scrap a LO for someone and I am loving doing it, another girly on of course, smile. It is coming together nicely I think and I just have to do a few stamps and stick it all down, but I am sure that will take a while LOL

the other big this was that Luke turned three. my baby is now three. We had a great day on the Sat before for his party and then on the Monday we had a nice quiet day with maccas for lunch, he had a great play in the play area and it just happened that there was another little boy in there so they played together Teenage mutant ninja turtles of all things PMSL.
these were his little cakes for his party. we decided since he had been sick that we would do cupcakes instead of a big cake. He loved them of course

he got a new bike for his bday and a wheel barrow which apparently he loves them both.

He hasn't been riding much lately but Jack had taken off with his riding. We finally live somewhere that he can ride and ride. After today I think all he will want to do is ride. The neighbours kids got there training wheels off today and talk about amazing, it took Amy a few goes but Joey who is only 4 took off and that was it he was riding, it was soooo cute to watch.

Well it has almost been a week since I posted. Every time I went to post I got busy with something else LOL.
Lisa got her handbag in the mail, a few days late even though I sent it express, damn Aussie post.
Ant has his new work car and I drove it both on Sat and Sun just to take it for a spin LOL it is a toyota Prius a hybrid car and very nice to drive. Shame it is mainly a company car LOL Amy next door has already asked if I am going to drop them off to school in the black car hehe haven't told Ant yet LOL

On the scrapping front I won a competition on EB. Was so excited to be choosen as a "Beautiful" LO creator. means I scrap a few photos for a little girl called Kawana. Can't wait to get started as I am loving doing girls pages at the moment, shame I have two boys. (smile)
I also get $100 cash prize for being choosen so you can guess where that money has gone.

Now on the sewing front. mmmmm well Amys coat is about 80% complete. hasn't worked out completely as I had hoped, the collar didn't work out very neat but I am hoping when I topstich it it will be OK. Then I think I will pop over to the nieghbours to get the button holes done. Would love a machine with an automatic button hole but there is no way I would give up my trusty old ELNA.

Still have to make a few little girls bags including Amy Kates and one for Amy next door, but I did manage to get Nans bag finished for her Bday. I will send it to Jennys house with Amy Kates present so she can open it there with Amy.
one of Luke holding the bag for me. Hope Nan likes it and it doesn't fall apart PMSL might even head down to craft depot today and get a bit of something to jazz it up a bit.

Op Shop Goodies/ sewing

Well Luke and I headed to the op shop yeaterday after the gym and this is just a selection of goodies that we found. A pasta maker for the kids for $2, bargain, and 4 spot books for $2 - Lukes favorite. No fabrics orpatterns but I came home happy anyway (smile)
Jack had his school carnival on Tuesday and Luke and I went to watch in the arvo but by then Jack had already done his running races and come first, Proud mum here. Can wait to get hold of some photos of him.

Have also finished off Lisas handbag for her 30th bday and I am really happy with how it turned out. Did the pocket on the front a little different and I really like it and I am in love with the linning fabric, lucky I bought a bit (smile)

Will leave it there for now, still no scrapping.

Just had to come back in with a pic of the tea Jack cooked tonight. Did it all himself except cutting the cheese and bacon, even turned on the stove himself. Very proud mummy of a very independant 6 year old. I am planing on getting him to cook a few meals next week so he is going thru a reciepe book and telling me what he wants to cook LOL

Might have to scrap a new blog heading tonight I soooooo want to scrap, damn it being so cold in our room.

Well I have finally got my walking foot for my old Elna machine and so I now need to finish Jacks
raggy edge quilt that I started four years ago. Oh how embarrassing 4 years It was suppose to be a full single bed size but I think I might make it a lap quilt cause Jack has star wars on his bed and Luke has thomas.

I have so much fabric in the cupboard and in my sewing room that I need to finish off some projects before I start any more. I need to make a bag for Lisa's 30th and Amys bday presents as well so really have to get started on it all, it needs to be done by end of August.

thats right I finished Xaviers pants in time to get them in the mail express today. So hoping that he gets them tomorrow and that he likes them. Added a little thomas toy as well cause I can't help myself LOL

and the pants from the Ottobre mag. Not hte easiest pattern but looks very smart when finished

in blog world again and I have no idea how people find the time to do this everyday. I have so much to show but where to start?

Luke fell at the school on Tuesday and decided that his head was a good part of his body to stop himself LOL poor little bugger hit so hard a bump came up straight away. and of course Luke being Luke he would not let me put any ice on it at all. he still has a very nice bump today and bruising around his eyes so i assume he had deep bruising.

this is a pic of him on sat as you can see he has a very dirty face but that is normal for little luke hehe

Have been working on a few LO's fo our Photo swap on Eb and I am very happy with the results here is a little sneak peak for Theresa

I am trying to get Xaviers bday present finished so I can express post it on Monday. Done his top and just have to finish off his pants and hope they fit his waist OK.

Mum and Dad have gone

Well mum and Dad left at about 10am this morning. Was really nice to see them and have them stay here again, a few things had changed since they were here last. The boys were so excited to see them and were hypo the whole weekend.

Now they are gone Bugger

Amy and Joe from next door came home late last night so the boys have been having a ball plaing with them today, then back to school tomorrow. Looking forward to school going back I think the 2 weeks is just long enough (smile)

I am trying to finish off a few tops and get X pants done for his birthday cause I need to get them in the mail very soon. The boys have been playing well so I better get off here and finish off these clothes and then get tea started.

Well after the gym this morning I decided to go insane and take both boys to the lifeline book fair. Mmmm did loose Luke a few times but he was either under the table reading a book or walking around the tables. There was so much to look at and since i had the kids I didn't get to look that well. But I did manage to get a few star wars books some dinosaur books for Jack and a few sewing ones - dolls actually. Only managed a few for Luke as I didn't really get a chance to look properly.
Did manage to get some playstation 1 games for $1 or $2 each and in that lot was a PS2 game for $1, have to be happy with that.

Haven't done much else today apart from starting to clean Jacks mess that is suppose to be a room LOL

Well OK this is my first post in this blog. Yep thats right this blog. I lost my other one PMSL.

Okies we I have been a tad busy with sewing and cooking and scrapping.
I made yummy yummy bread rolls for tea tonight, they were suppose to be for lunch but after our car troubles and being stuck for 5 hours they had to be for tea hehe
how good do they look!

these are a pair of little booties and beenie that I made for a neighbours new little girl. Found the bootie pattern at Heather Baileys websiteI love them they are soooooo cute. Have no idea if they will fit her or not.
Ok so the boys are trashing the place so I might have to go and stop the lounge room turning into a crane since it is nearly 7.30pm and Luke has no pants on LOL
